Getting around in the Neighborhood

Getting Around the Neighborhood

Location:

In Eastside of Midtown:

Address:

1130 East 33rd Street, Savannah, GA 31405

Neighborhood:

The neighborhood is a historic family neighborhood that has a lot of heritage. It's an up and coming spot, 1 mile from Daffin park / Whole Foods, 1 mile from SCAD's Anderson and Wallin hall. Our neighbor, Tim, has lived next door for 35 years, and his sister, across the street, has lived there for 25 years. So they know us and help us look after the property and our students, which is really nice! It's NOT a typical SCAD student place; this is NOT a party place!  It was my husband's personal home while he taught Animation at SCAD. He has never had any break-ins, robberies, etc in 12 years he has lived there. Since the house is inside the city, you will probably see some "foot traffic", and get typical "city noise", but I just tell my students to try to keep to themselves and be mindful and aware of your surroundings: don't talk to strangers, don't put your bike in the front porch unlocked, don't answer the door or let anybody inside if you don't know who they are, etc. People here in this neighborhood tend to keep to themselves anyways.

Location Amenties:

Some perks about living here is that you can get most anywhere within 1 mile radius:

  • Anderson Hall
  • Wallin Hall
  • Eckberg Hall
  • Whole Foods Grocery Store
  • Daffin Park
  • Memorial Hospital
  • Hunter Army Air Force Base
  • Downtown
Getting Around:

Half of our residents living there get around by bicycle. (5 mins to SCAD by bike) They can bike to Anderson Hall (where most Foundations Classes are), and catch the RED or BLUE SCAD bus line to get around the rest of campus.

Half of our residents living there also get around by car.  There are 4 gated parking spots located inside the property courtyard.  There are also plenty of off-street parking.

The City Bus Stop is accessible around the corner.

SCAD students ride the City Bus for FREE - Check out their lines and schedules:
